Specialized Committee Of Assessors

There are presently about 35 distinguished Nigerians serving on the various Specialized Committee of Assessors whose primary responsibility is to assess and evaluate all the submissions made by nominees seeking the Award of the NNOM. These distinguished Nigerians are usually retired and serving senior Professors and other distinguished men and women in public life such as former Ministers, etc. in order to avoid undue interference and influence in the course of discharging their responsibilities, the identities of these assessors are not usually disclosed to the public. The four Specialized Committees, each under a Chairman, are in the fields of:
a.      Science
b.      Engineering/Technology
c.      Medicine
d.      Humanities, Arts and Culture as well as other fields of human endeavour.

Committee Of Chairmen

The Committee of Chairmen of Specialized Committees is responsible for cross-assessing and scrutinizing the evaluation exercises carried out by the various Specialized Committees to ensure adherence to comparable standards. This committee is also responsible for ensuring that each of the Specialized Committees conducts its mandate with the laid down rules and regulations established by the Board. The Committee also ensures that the assessments carried out meet national and international standards of merit, excellence and integrity. This Committee is made up of all the Chairmen of the four Specialized Committees of Assessors under a Chairman appointed from amongst them by the Board.
